Carsten Braun

Carsten Braun was born in Idar-Oberstein in 1974. During his childhood, he spent a lot of time in the nature. When he was 15 years old, he obtained his first photographic equipment and began to accompany his father on his photographic excursions. Since successfully completing his study of biology in college, he today works as a biologist. Photographic trips have led him through various parts of Europe, America, Africa and Asia. The natural surroundings of his home region also inspire him and there he is able to work intensively on photo projects over a period of years. The high-speed photography of bats in flight has particularly fascinated him for years. His images appear in national and international magazines, books and calendars. He has published three books together with his father: "Hunsrück – Naturerlebnis zwischen Nahe und Mosel", "Naturschönheiten in Rheinland-Pfalz", und "Naturpark Saar-Hunsrück - Stille Schönheit". Some of his images have received awards such as "Wildlife Photographer of the Year", "Nature's Best International Award", "Glanzlichter" und "Naturschätze Europas".
