European HamsterNature photographer Kerstin Hinze observed a family of Common Hamsters at their den. Formerly Common Hamsters have been quite common and not very popular at the farmers because they stored part of the cereal crop. Those times are gone and especially modern farming is responsible for the decrease of Hamsters. The change from summer grain to winter crop, usage of pesticides and fieldwork with very big and efficient machines makes it very difficult for Hamsters to survive. Source: Deutsche Wildtier Stiftung
